Art Papers - Printing & Prices

Art papers are premium quality papers that are often coated with “china clay” which gives them a smooth. In Kenya, Art papers are used in print production of Magazines, Brochures, Flyers, Calendars and Posters. Their smooth surfaces make the printouts have a very neat finish.
In addition, art paper comes in two types of finishing, we have gloss (shiny) and matt ranging from 130gsm, 150gsm, 170gsm, 200gsm, 250gsm, 300gsm and 350gsm. For example if the paper is 200gsm it means that it weighs 200 grams at A0 size.
Art Paper sizes

Art papers are cut into different sizes, these are:

    • A0 – 84.1cm x 118.9cm (*not common)
    •  A1 – 59.4cm x 84.1cm
    • A2 – 42cm x 59.4cm
    • A3 – 29.7cm x 42cm
    • A4 – 21cm x 29.7cm
    • A5 – 14.85cm x 21cm
    • A6 -10.5cm x 14.85 cm

For 250gsm, 300gsm and 350gsm, we refer to them as Art Cards since they are normally used in making different types of Cards. For example, business cards, post cards and in some cases they are used in wedding cards and binding of booklets.
On the other hand, when it comes to lamination, we use only art cards (250gsm-350gsm) since they are heavier than the normal art papers that are below 250gsm. Feather weight art papers treated with a varnish known as UV varnish/coat to help them get that extra shiny finish. Laminated art papers, art cards or any other papers become water-resistant (*not water-proof) and are easier to wipe dust off their surface.
